Phoenix Petroleum has recently achieved its third International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification. Certifying body, Bureau Veritas, awarded the company with an ISO certification on October 2, 2020 for its Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001:2018) following a two-month system audit and management review. The accomplishment is in addition to the company’s existing ISO certifications on Quality Management System (ISO 9001:2015) and on Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015).
“We welcome this new achievement to our list of ISO-certified operation and management systems. It only proves that we are serious with our goal of further professionalizing our business, and ensuring that we pursue excellence in everything we do. We believe that to be able to provide high-quality service and customer experience, we must first ensure that our internal management follows world-class standards,” Phoenix Petroleum President Henry Albert Fadullon said. “Phoenix has evolved so much over the years, and it will continue to do so as a customer-centric brand, and this is one way of ensuring that we are treading the right path,” he added.
Being an ISO-certified company means that the business has established an effective framework that complies with management quality standards and requirements.
Valid for three years, the certification covers the company’s receiving, storage, and distribution of petroleum fuels, and the administrative support functions to depot operations. It covers the terminal and depot operations in Calaca, Batangas; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Bacolod, Negros Occidental; Consolacion, Cebu; Dumaguit, Aklan; Davao; Villanueva, Misamis Oriental; Zamboanga; and General Santos City. Support functions and business units both in the Davao headquarters and the Udenna Tower in Taguig City were also included in the new certification. To ensure the sustainability of the company’s management systems to maintain the ISO certification, an annual surveillance audit will be conducted in these sites.
Phoenix’s achievement of another ISO certification proves the company’s commitment to health and safety, high quality of service, environmental stewardship, compliance, and continuous improvement. The company’s current quality and environmental management system documents were integrated with occupational health and safety management systems to come up with an Integrated Management System (IMS) that complies with ISO standards. Internal management system audits and management reviews were also regularly conducted prior to the third-party audit.
In 2019, the company received two ISO certifications after a year of a series of audits and management reviews also done by Bureau Veritas Philippines and certified by Bureau Veritas Certification Holding SAS – United Kingdom branch.
