After Manila, pioneering motorcycle taxi ride-hailing service Angkas rode over to Pasig to also donate its IATF-approved protective shields for use of motorcycle-riding employees of the city.
The protective shields meant to be used for riding in tandem on motorcycles were turned over by Angkas Chief Transport Advocate George Royeca to Mayor Vico Sotto in simple ceremonies at the City Hall.
Angkas said it was coordinating with Pasig City hospitals on where and when its partner riders should be deployed to provide free transport services to around 2,000 health care workers in the city’s hospitals, including the government-run Pasig City General Hospital and the Pasig City Children’s Hospital, a CoViD Referral Facility.
In a press statement, Royeca said: “Mayor Vico has been very pro-active in anticipating and responding to the needs of his HCWs who have been courageously fighting at the forefront of this pandemic. He has always championed efficient and safe transportation which we also advocate at Angkas. Angkas is proud to support him, and we would be more than happy to assist Pasig City in their pandemic-free transport initiatives.”
This partnership with a popular mayor can only enhance Angkas’ bid to get authorities see it can operate safely.
